It has been a while now, but a momentous occasion such as this should not go unmentioned. Volker from Dortmund visited Silas Corp. and there was evidence for a wee Black Bowmore annihilation. We decided to declare hunting season on the remaining stocks of Silas Corp. cause there was still something left from the “Final Edition”. A pity on one hand, but on the other probably the only chance to sample this nectar once again in light of its outrageous price hike. One can tell from the image how serious we took this event. We did not cry, but almost.

Well, the fruit aromas one could smell and taste in full force in the First and Second Editions are no longer detectable in the Final Edition – at least not in the nose. In lieu of them there are dollops of bitter pipe tobacco, fresh espressos and oily highlights. Even Worcester sauce and English marmalade came into play. Taste-wise there is still that tropical fruit punch but gradually also heaviness with a lot more dry bitterness. All in all a real great whisky which for its development in the past 10 years alone gives one the heebie-jeebies.
